B.O.I. Productions would like to thank the hundreds of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender men and women (and their straight allies) who came out to celebrate the 2nd Annual Capital Queer Prom and support “The Wanda’s Will Project” on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Almas Shrine Temple.

Looking over the Sphinx Ballroom at the incredibly diverse sea of faces dancing, mingling, laughing and smiling for their prom portraits, it became quite clear that the 2nd Annual Capital Queer Prom was a great success.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our 2008 Prom Sponsors whose generosity provided the entire LGBT community a wonderful and memorable night they will never forget. Special thanks also goes out to Town Danceboutique, sponsor of the 2008 Official Prom After-Party, and the Almas Shrine Temple for hosting this spectacular event!

B.O.I. Productions wishes to thank all of you who attended this year’s event, those that helped sponsor and support the Prom and all of our community partners who worked to promote and spread the word about this very special evening for every member of the LGBT family.

Stay tuned for information on the NEXT Capital Queer Prom and more exciting events from B.O.I. Productions!

Here's what people are saying about the 2008 Capital Queer Prom…

It was breathe taking, and surreal to be amongst a group of people who were open to their identity as "LGBT". Everyone was dressed for the occasion, and they looked flawless. The location, and the decorative appeal for the event, added to the celebration of the night. This was my first prom, but I'll definitely be at the next one. I am bisexual, and was there without a date…however, I met some amazing people, and wouldn't change anything about the night.

Thank you so so much. Prom night this year was the best event I've been to in DC - and not just because I won prom king. Capital Queer Prom will hold a special place in my heart as one of the most entertaining and exhilarating experiences I've had since coming out. It was better than the prom experience that my straight friends had in high school that I felt largely alienated from because I was queer. I haven't danced that much in a long time. Everything was spot on: the venue, the food, the service, the music. My prom date and I had a wonderful time. Thanks!

-Tate, Prom King 2008

I know the Capital Queer Prom is geared primarily toward same gender couples, but it was great for Cree and I. Cree didn't have a great experience at her high school prom, so this was a terrific opportunity for her to re-live that moment. What made it even better was that we were able to take pictures with a professional photographer to capture the memory.

Thanks for organizing this event!

Sheldon and I still keep talking about how much we enjoyed the Prom. It was fun and everyone was so friendly and looked great. You (and your team) did a FANTASTIC job and I was glad I was able to come! Count me in again for 2009!

-Bill

I still have a big grin on my face because I had so much fun! Thank you for making such an awesome night possible!

- Nicole

The applause was fabulous, the mood was overjoyed and the cameras kept flashing. What an unreal moment in time and I was chosen to be the new queen and I look forward to my year. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you all year as I travel and make my crown known throughout the area so that next year the event can be even bigger. Keep up the great work and keep doing what you are doing to make sure we keep having grand celebrations.
